Year 1

Our initial unit is where students develop their concept of place by investigating some important activities located in their local area. While examining where and why these activities are located, students start thinking about the concept of space.

First semester finishes IMG_3113by studying a range of different animals and how God has created suitable environments to sustain His creations. Students will examine the role that God has given to them to be responsible stewards of this world. They will develop an understanding and appreciation of the way in which Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples relied upon and utilized what God has created. This unit ends with an excursion to Lone Pine Zoo where students gain the opportunity to have hands on experiences with animals and their environments.

Within the second semester students immerse themselves in the biblical story of Joshua and Jericho City. They are also introduced to the Ten Commandments and discover a basic understanding of them.

The year culminates with the students learning about family life and how it has changed with the passage of time. Throughout this unit students will also begin to explore the world of light and sound energy by using their senses.
